What costs are incurred for the pharmacy?

Teledermatology is free for pharmacies

Since 2025, the use of teledermatology has been free for pharmacies. This means that pharmacies do not have to pay any license fees, software costs, or platform fees to offer the service to their patients. Existing technical equipment, such as cameras or tablets for taking skin photos, can also be used without additional expenses.

The medical services provided by dermatologists are billed directly through the patient’s health insurance. Pharmacies do not have to make any payments themselves but only provide the infrastructure for the digital transmission of skin images and the medical questionnaire.

This allows pharmacies to offer an additional service to their customers without financial risk. At the same time, patients receive a specialist assessment of their skin problems quickly. Training costs or additional staff effort are minimal, as the processes are standardized and user-friendly.

This model makes it easier for pharmacies to integrate teledermatology into their services, increases patient satisfaction, and contributes to a modern, digitally supported healthcare system.
